He was predeceased by: his father Jimmy Winston Simpson I; his brother Gregory Scott Simpson; and his stepmother Thelma Simpson. He is survived by: his mother Linda J. Mills (Jerry); his wife Mary C. Simpson (Naples); his son Jimmy Winston Simpson III (Krystal); his sister Susan Melton (Goldsmith); his nieces and nephews, Blake Scott Simpson (Mary Claire), Nicholas Bako, Anthony Bako, Morgan Simpson Shannon (Aaron), Paige Griffith and Logan Griffith; his great-niece Ellie Shannon; his great-nephew Beckett Shannon; and his cousins, Jane Sallee Sallee (Hisle), Louis Luckett, Sam Luckett, Anna Nevitt, Mike Goins, Kathy Martin (Goins), Jack Goins and Melissa Hatchell (Goins).

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to The Markey Cancer Center.
