He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward Capps and Rosetta Reed Capps; and his sisters, Diana Capps Shackleford and Shirley Hensley. He is survived by: his daughters, Amber Capps and Ashley Woody (Chris); his siblings, Donna Faye Sowders, David Capps (Brenda) and Gary Capps; his grandsons, Connor Capps and Eli Woody; and his close friends, Jim Davis, Bill Sutton and Bob Lawton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Shumate Funeral Home (2321 W Cumberland Ave, Middlesboro, KY 40965). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
