He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Smith (Gourley); and his siblings, Joe Ed, Pat, Bill, Tom, Tip, Jackie, Terry, Rose and Jimmie Lou.
He is survived by: his father John Lofton; his wife Cathia Smith (McBee); his siblings, Margaret Cozad of Bement, IL and Richard Smith of Middlesboro; his siblings-in-law, Dorris Potter of Morehead City, NC, JoAnn Smith of New Tazewell, TN, Jan Smith of Port St and Jimmy McBee of Middlesboro; and his pets, Molli and Cooper. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ROHO Charitable Trust or the Irene and Howard Baker Cancer Center.
