He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Cox and Emma Mayes Cox; his siblings, Shirley Poore, Peggy Goins (Cookie), Hollis Wayne Cox, Clarence Cox and Darrell Cox; and his great grandchild Camden Cox.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Cox; his son Donnie Cox (Lisa); his granddaughters, Erica Hancock (Gary) and Amanda Tolliver (Todd); his great grandchildren, Kennedy Howerton, Kallie Tolliver and Cole Hancock (Kimberly); his siblings, Geraldine Ellison, Betty Johnston and Coy Cox Sr.; and his close friends, Marcum Brogan, Lenis Mason, Jay Loveday and Buddies. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
