He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Short and Chloe Newell Short; his stepsons, Jay and Craig Price; and his siblings, Pat Staton and Clyde Short.
He is survived by: his wife Daisy Cain Short; his stepchildren, Eddie Price of Liberty, Jill Smith of Hustonville and Jan Thomas of Russell Springs, Ten; his stepgrandchild Sixteen; and his sister Mary Ann Short of Richmond, Six.
