She is survived by: her mother Joyce Newsome Johnson of Melvin; her husband Ray Bates; her sons, Josh Bates (Tanika) of Melvin and Steven Bates (Paula) of North Carolina; her sisters, Shelia Vance of Melvin and Charlene Goble of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Brian Keith Bates Jr., Hazleigh Joshlynn Bates, Arabella Jade Bates, Christopher Bates and Kaylee Bates; and her great grandchild Payton Childers.
