He was predeceased by: his wife Cathy Mathis Key; and his mother Marilyn Routon Key. He is survived by: his father John W. Key of Paducah, Kentucky; his sister Kim Chester (Bruce) of Paducah, Kentucky; and his nieces and nephews, Caitlin Chester, Jaraad Walters-Chester, Caitie Mathis, Jacob Mathis, Adam Mathis, Kyle Poat and Chris Poat.
