He was predeceased by: his sister Shirley Mayes; his parents-in-law, Clayton Parks and Helen Parks; his son-in-law Jeremy Butler; and his brother-in-law Ronald Parks.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy P. Mayes of Means, KY; his children, Marsha Butler (Lonnie Spence), Bonnie Mayes (George Cundiff), Katie Mayes, Stacey Mayes and Casey Mayes (Philip Wireman); his grandchildren, Kimberly, Billy, Danielle, Kenzie, Kayla, Anna, Gabe, Hayden, Bentley, Carson and Abby; his siblings, Mitchell Mayes Jr., Bobby Joe Mayes (Debbie), Diane Helton and Sheila Mayes; his son-in-law Jonathan Lee; and his siblings-in-law, James Parks (Eva), George Parks (Nancy), Fred Parks (Dorothy), Anita Notestine (Leslie), Betty Myers (Jessie), Tonya Horn (Ed) and Brenda Parks. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
