He was predeceased by: his parents, Autie Adkins and Clara Trimble Adkins; and his brothers, Earnie Adkins, Curtis Adkins (Faye), Everett Adkins and Clifford Adkins (Maxine).
He is survived by: his wife Linda Helton Adkins of Means, KY.; his daughters, Missy and Terry Kidd of Clearfield, KY.; his grandsons, John Henry, James Henry and Cameron McKenzie; his sister Imogene McGuire; his sisters-in-law, Minnie Adkins Barker of Mize, KY and Mae Adkins of West Liberty, KY.; and his sisters, Bernice Johnson (Arthur), Mary Wallen (Robert), Lizzie Riggsby, Lina Adkins, Julia Johnson (Woodrow) and Martha Wolfenbarger (Elmer).
