He was predeceased by: his siblings, Gilbert Burton, Wendell Burton and Peggy Jo Fletcher. He is survived by: his wife Diane Graszus Burton; his sons, Terry Steven "T. J." Burton, Jr. (Aleeca) of Bracken County and Jacob Daniel Burton (Melissa) of Louisville; his grandchildren, Ella Burton, Taylor Burton, Gavin Burton, Blake Burton and Ava Burton; and his siblings, Homer Burton (Ruth), Randall Burton (Janice), Garry Burton, Rickey Burton and Barbara Fuhr. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
