He was predeceased by: his father William I. McFarland; his stepson David Stitt; his great grandchild Parker Stitt; his brothers, Gene, Fred and Charles McFarland; and the mother of his children Cherry McFarland.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Sue Howell McFarland of Maysville, KY; his children, James Alan McFarland (Melissa) of Minerva, KY, Anthony Earl McFarland of Cincinnati and Shauna Christian McFarland Short (Freddie) of Ripley, OH; his stepchildren, Donnie Stitt (Mary) and Denise Allison; his grandchildren, Brycelyn Short, Fred Short, Jr., Kellie Garner, Cayla and Chaston McFarland; his stepchildren, Joseph, Andrew, Lauren, Natalie Stitt, Shayla Giese, Wesley Allison, Maddie and Ava Irish; and his siblings, Raymond "Doc" McFarland (Jo), Phyliss Gorman and Wanda Gilkerson (Jack). He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
