He was predeceased by: his brother Tom Payne; and his parents, Paul Payne and Bettie Wilson Payne. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Sanderson Payne; and his children, James "J. P." Payne, III (Heather) of Wingo, KY, Corey Payne of Mayfield, KY, Cody Payne (Kirsten) of Mayfield, KY and Kelsey Clinton (Jordan) of Newbern, TN. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
