He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe and Inez May Phelps; his daughters, Linda Mae Perkins and Debbie Crider; his siblings, William Phelps, Thomas Jewell Phelps and Mary Pauline Spears; and his son-in-law Jackie Felts.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Holman Phelps; and his children, Norma Felts of Fancy Farm, KY, Donald Phelps (Donna) of Farmington, KY, James R. Phelps (Wanda) of Mayfield, KY, Deena Heath (Ronnie) of Hardin, KY and Scott Phelps of Mayfield, KY.. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
