He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank H. Schaefer and Celeste Weber Schaefer; and his siblings, Martha Clines, Celeste Kiesler and Frank J. Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Bonin Schaefer; his brother John A. (Rosanne); his brother-in-law Herman H. Kiesler; his children, Alan (Cindy), Larry (Marian), Ted (Lynne), Carl (Jody), Joan Dalton (Pat) and Ruth Gayde (Pete); and his grandchildren, Stefan, Lauren, Eric, Michael, John, Rachel, Daniel, Marie, Matthew, William, Joseph and Ellen. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
