She was predeceased by: her parents, George 'Buster Whitt Sr. and Lahoma Whitt (Brown); her husband Billy Joe McDowell; her daughter Tammy Carey Walker (McDowell); and her sisters, Barbara Dixon and Janice Cottrell.

She is survived by: her daughters, Cindy Moore (McDowell) and Kelly McDowell; her grandchildren, Allyson Moore, Joseph Moore and Jordan Carey Koch; her great grandchildren, Samuel Wade and Oakley; and her brother Larry Whitt.
