He was predeceased by: his father Larry Lawrence, Sr.; his adoptive father Roy L. Yates; and his sister Laurie Yates Adams. He is survived by: his mother Sharon Getz Yates of Madisonville, KY.; his wife Rhonda Yates; his children, Ashley Maerz of Madisonville, KY, Deontae Peyton of Madisonville and Alaya Campbell of Madisonville; and his siblings, Jennifer Wheelhouse (Tim) of Hollister, CA and Jason Lawrence (Desiree) of Hollister, CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
