He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Hicks and Ollie Hicks; and his siblings, Bernice Cottongim, Charles Hicks, William Ed Hicks and Anderson Hicks.
He is survived by: his daughters, Angela Harris Manchester (Bruce), Bobbie Joe Hicks and Samantha Joe Hicks London (Curtis); his stepdaughter Kayla Schmidt (Donald) of London; and his sisters, Rosa Sproles and Nancy Hubbard. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
