He was predeceased by: his parents, Elby Mathis and Elsie Mathis; and his siblings, Steve Mathis, Raleigh Mathis, Sam Mathis, Charlie Mathis, Willie Mathis, Mae Sandlin, Hazel Westerfield and Edna Mathis.
He is survived by: his spouse Ella Sandlin Mathis; his son Ronnie Jay Mathis (Michelle); his granddaughters, TaLaura Jade Mathis and Kaylee Faith Mathis; and his siblings, Buster Mathis, Susan Allen, Hughie Mathis, Abraham Mathis, Sally Casey and Pearl Mathis.
