She was predeceased by: her parents, Mitchell Messer and Mealie Messer (Hubbard); her husband Crit Gambrel; her grandson James Mitchell Smith; and her siblings, Lloyd Messer, Robert Messer, Gilbert Messer, Nasby Messer, Axie Bargo, Dorothy Smith, Bertha Mills and Callie Messer.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara J. Smith (late Earl) of Gambrel Road, Pauline Smith (late Odas) of Thomas Branch, Carol Wirries of Ohio, Bonnie Gambrel of Manchester and Darrell Gambrel of Goose Creek. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
