He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Sr. Watson and Mary L. Probus Watson; his grandson Bryson Xavier Riggs; and his siblings, Clara Roederer, Rose Townsend, Joseph Watson and James H. Watson, Jr..

He is survived by: his nephew Jeff Roederer; his wife Connie Greenwell Watson of Mammoth Cave; and his children, Courtney Riggs of Bardstown and Damien Riggs (Amy) of Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends and all of his dogs.
