He was predeceased by: his parents, Jewel Glen Sammons and Imogene Smith Sammons; and his uncles, James Jr., Willie Dean, Leroy, Henry and Jake Smith.
He is survived by: his aunt Christine Cornett; his sister-in-law Jonnie Wright; his wife Mona Sammons; his sons, Robert Jonathan Sammons and Madison Heath Sammons; his uncle Homer Smith (Ruth); his aunt Illia Smith; his siblings-in-law, Lawana Thornsberry (Marvin), Martha Amburgey of Mallie, Betty Thornsberry (Leo) of Raven and Alonzo Amburgey of Hazard; and his brothers, Marvin Thornsberry and Philip Smith (Marty). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family has asked that everyone wear masks while attending services.
