He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Barnes, Sr. and Ova Marie Maggard Barnes; his former wives, Mildred Barnes and Billie Barnes; and his siblings, Leslie Barnes (Bud), Edward Barnes and Betty Scotton.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Cummins Barnes of Lynch; his stepchildren, Mitzi B. Sellars (Red) of Lynch and Kay L. Hern of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Mia Cornett (Mike), Shanna Veale (Mike), Telly Sellars (Heather), Jamey Sellars (Heather), Lucinda Burnham (Jim), Roberta Sturm (Jason) and Kara Branson (Tim); and his great grandchildren, Nick, Sawyer, Spencer, Ethan, Ella, Kate, Ava, Emory, Kailyn, Gannon, Jaxson, Lochlan, Keeley, AJ, Hadley and Eli.
