She was predeceased by: her husband Chester Hughes; her grandsons, Tremayne Smith and Davon Maddox; and her siblings, Darryl and Dana Maddox.

She is survived by: her daughters, Gwendolyn, Faye, Dawanda Maddox, Latia and Katrina Hughes; her sister Margaret Harris; and her friends, Norma J. Maddox and Freeda Morris-Louthan. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren.
