He was predeceased by: his parents, Christine Sowell-Jones and Robert Shavers Jr.; his grandmothers, Betty Shavers and Gertrude Pearson-Sowell; his brother Robert Shavers Jr.; and his stepfather Jerry T. Jones.
He is survived by: his son Iman Stephen Sowell; and his wife Yasmeen Sowell. He is also survived by four brothers; six sisters; as well as a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
