He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Sr. Brown and Nettie Brown (Neeley) of Luretha, KY.; his wife Flora Brown (Hutchinson); his daughters, Dianne Bates and Tami Brown; and his siblings, Claude, Becham, Charlie, Floyd, Starlin, Bob, Roy Brown, Hattie Heaton, Zelma Carrigan, Ethel Brown, Chloe Brown and Beulah Lewis.
He is survived by: his close friend Betty Burkhead; his children, Beverly Gover (Roger), Michael David Brown Sr. (Christie) and Vickie Thieneman; his grandchildren, Douglas Elliott (Lisa), Julie Carter (Jarrod), Michael Brown Jr. (Kara), Scott Thieneman, T. J. Thieneman and Bryan Bates (Jen); his great grandchildren, Gabrielle Baker, Alex Elliott, Kierstin Elliott, Miya Elliott, Avery Carter, Emerie Carter and Saylor Brown; and his sister-in-law Melinda Hutchison.
