As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Rita may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul W. Mudd and Lucille Lynch Mudd; her brothers, W. Wallace "Wally" Mudd and Paul W. Mudd II; and her daughter Sarah John.
She is survived by: her husband Michael Lauer; and her brothers, Daniel Mudd (Jeanne Marie) of Tucson and Charles Mudd (Judy) of Willisburg, Kentucky. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home (3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40205). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Saint John Paul II Catholic Church (3539 Goldsmith Ln, Louisville, KY 40220).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Little Way Pregnancy Resource Center (littleway.org) in Rita's memory.
