He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Kahler Filburn; his parents, John Filburn and Anna Filburn; and his siblings, John, Larney, Charles "Chick", Francis "Blackie" Filburn, Dorothy Filburn, Anna Ottersbach, Betty Jean and Virginia Filburn.

He is survived by: his daughters, Tish Kimbel (Wayne), Cherrie Burch (Stuart), Kim Donahue and His; his sister Jane Roth; and his grandchildren, Bradley Kimbel (Kate), Ron Kimbel (Dianne), Angela Heid, Brian Heid, Roy Burch, Mitchell Donahue and Bridget Filburn.
