He was predeceased by: his parents, James Arthur Connolly, Sr. and Joan White Connolly. He is survived by: his wife Bridget Anne O'Connor Connolly; his children, Molly (Lorenzo), Regan, Shannon, Jaime, Erin, Sian and Rowan; and his siblings, Mary Jo Connolly, Anne Menz (James), Lila Krmpotich (Stephan), Stephan Connolly (Diane) and Michael Connolly (Denise Fischer). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), donations of books to Veterans hospitals and nursing homes, or to any cause supporting veterans and their families.
