He was predeceased by: his son Gabriel Stephan; his grandchild Baby Kelly; and his parents, John Jacob and Elizabeth Louise. He is survived by: his wife Arlene; his children, Dana Rachel Parker (Dennis), Jacob Anthony Rice and Lindsay Michele Rice (Terry Kelly); his grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Emily, Shaylynn and Taylor Belle; his siblings, John "Pogo" Rice (Bonnie), Timothy Rice (Michelle) and Lori Daugherty (Mark); and his close friend Tony Stich (Dee Dee).

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to the nonprofit Citizens Attacking Addiction can be made in his memory .
