He was predeceased by: his son Jeffrey Benjamin; his parents, Della K. Thompson and Alvis A. Thompson; his wife Pernie Lee Thompson (Gooden); his siblings, William F. Thompson, Marilee Thompson and Carol Polley (Thomspon); his son Howard "Reed" Thompson, Jr.; and his son-in-law Peter J. Tedesco.
He is survived by: his daughters, Pamela Ann Thompson Tedesco and Christy Celene Thompson Hall; his son-in-law Robert "Bobby" Hall; and his friend Thelma Noble. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
