It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Dominic Effinger (Louisville, Kentucky), who passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie Mock and John J. Effinger, Sr.; his siblings, Ann Jeanette Effinger, Marie Sullivan (Tom), John J. Effinger, Jr. and Charles E. Effinger, Sr.; and his niece Lynn Effinger.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Effinger; his daughter Therese Nietupski (Michael); his grandchildren, Emma, Michael and Elizabeth; and his sisters, Mary Guelda, Cecilia Mazzoni, Barbara Russell (Jack) and Carolyn Foerster. He is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ratterman Funeral Home (3711 Lexington Rd, Louisville, KY 40207). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Leonard Catholic Church (440 Zorn Ave, Louisville, KY 40207). A burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at the St. Michael Cemetery (1300 Ellison Ave, Louisville, KY 40204).
