He was predeceased by: his son James Eric Flanigan; his siblings, Daniel, Marvin, Philip, Ozell, David, Mozell Jones and Cecille Buckner; and his brother-in-law Richard Thurman.

He is survived by: his children, Floyd Jr., Melissa and Santana Beard; and his siblings, Shirley Thurman, Rose Kerney (Perry) of Orlando, Florida and Kenneth Flanigan (Carolyn Alexander). He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
