He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Martin Gunst and Helene Huber Gunst. He is survived by: his wife Lillian Marie Lyon Gunst; his children, Carole Cecile Gunst of Boston, MA, John Lyon Gunst (Tami) of Stratham, NH and Jeanne Gunst Baird (Andrew) of Houston, TX; and his grandchildren, Sydney Elizabeth Gunst, Sarah Rene Gunst, Stephen Baird and Michael Baird.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Ratterman Brother's Funeral Home (3711 Lexington Rd, Louisville, KY 40207). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home (3711 Lexington Rd, Louisville, KY 40207). A burial was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery (6785 KY-52, Loretto, KY 40037).
