She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Smith and Maggie Smith (Walker); her husband John Wesley "Tiny" Bowen; her granddaughter Jessica Bowen; and her siblings, Beulah York, Lucille Rhodes, Ruby Sabo, Cecil Smith, Fred Smith, Jr., Howard Smith and Bobby Smith.
