He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruble Franklin and Anna Lou Shelton Thomas; and his brothers-in-law, Darrel Crass and James Lawson. He is survived by: his sons, James Eric Thomas of Paducah, KY, Howard Scott Thomas (Amy) of Paducah, KY and Jon Alex Thomas of Paducah, KY; the mother of his children Diane Dick Thomas of Paducah, KY; his granddaughters, Aubrey Quinn Thomas and Finley Drew Thomas; his sister Barbara Ann Thomas Crass of South Fulton, TN; and his nephew Dwayne Crass. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Although diagnosed with bone cancer in 2020 during the COVID pandemic, he continued to work remotely.
