He was predeceased by: his parents, McClellan Eugene Smith and Brenda Joyce Dunn Day; and his brother James Douglas Smith. He is survived by: his wife Deanna Johnson-Smith; his children, Derek Smith (Roni) of London, Sidney Lewis (Apollo Nolan) of London, Nick Johnson of London, Kristin Marin of Richmond and Michael Beach (Luke) of Nashville, Tennessee; his brothers, Curtis Lee Smith of Liberty, Jason Bradley Smith of Richmond and Brian Keith Smith of Connersville, Indiana; and his nephew Jordan Smith. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Bowling Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
