He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Nelson and Anna Rose Nelson; and his brothers, Charles Donald Nelson and James Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Sue Ann Settles Nelson; his children, Terry Nelson (William) of Berea, Hannah Nelson of East Bernstadt, Sherman Nelson of East Bernstadt, Josh Nelson (Shanda) of London, Kelsey Nelson (Skylar) of Mount Vernon and Chris Roberts (Amy) of Harlan, Kentucky; and his grandchildren, Ryan Robinson, Lennon Hines, Ava Nelson, Alaina Nelson, Riley Hines and Addilyn Roberts.

Visitation was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bowling Funeral Home (1704 N Main St, London, KY 40741). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel (1704 N Main St, London, KY 40741).
