He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Bowling and Mallie Creech Bowling; his wife Martha Lou Dixon Bowling; and his son Jeffery D. Bowling. He is survived by: his sons, Raymond Bowling Jr. of Lily, Randall "Peanut" Bowling of Barbourville, Mark Bowling of London and Michael Bowling of London. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren.
