He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Hinkle and Betsy Bennett Hinkle; and his siblings, Lowell Hinkle, Troy Hinkle, Bob Hinkle, Otis Hinkle, Henry Hinkle and Velma Hinkle.

He is survived by: his sons, John Hinkle, Jr. (Theresa) of London and Michael Hinkle of London; and his brother Bill Hinkle (Anna Marie) of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
