He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Proffitt and Ollie Allen Proffitt; and his siblings, Tilford, Frank, Robert, Walter Ray, Barbara Sue, Brenda Lou Proffitt and Sandra Kay Davidson.

He is survived by: his son Jerry Steven Proffitt (Cynthia) of Lebanon, Ohio; his siblings, Joyce Williams and Don Proffitt of London, Kentucky.; and his grandson Blake Proffitt.
