He was predeceased by: his parents, Tilford Proffitt and Liza Bruner Proffitt; his spouse Shirley Louise Cochran Proffitt; his children, Donna Proffitt and Randy Proffitt; and his siblings, Mack Proffitt, Jane Yaden, Nancy Chandler, Leota Byrd, Effie Mae Yaden, Ethel Yonce, Louise Yaden, Jewell Phelps, Gilbert Proffitt, Pearl Yaden and Leonard Proffitt.
He is survived by: his children, Connie Helton (Tim) of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, Ricky Proffitt (Jitanna) of London and Melissa Worley (Leland) of Corbin, Kentucky; and his sister Jessie Colson of New Richmond, Ohio. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Victory Baptist Church building fund.
