He was predeceased by: his parents, James Milton and Madge Browning McCreary; his son James Steven McCreary; his brother Charles McCreary; and his sister-in-law Jane McCreary.
He is survived by: his wife Ella Lorene Elliott McCreary; his children, Rita Deanne McKeehan (Allen McKeehan) and William Russell McCreary, Jr. (Bill) of Tampa, FL; his grandchildren, Brittany Lawson (Bill Masters) of Barbourville, KY and A. J. McKeehan of Corbin, KY; and his brother David McCreary of Corbin, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
