He was predeceased by: his parents, Evan Adkins and Loretta Faye Casebolt Adkins; and his siblings, Merl Gifford Adkins, Heath Dwayne Adkins and Becky Adkins Randolph.
He is survived by: his children, James Ervin Adkins, Evan Drew Adkins of Prestonsburg and Natosha Harris (Stephen) of Prestonsburg; his sister Phoebe Adkins Ferguson of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Elexus Endicott, Cooper Harris, Andrew Harris and Kennedy Adkins; and his great grandchild Vivienne Jones.
