He was predeceased by: his parent Edward Cornett; and his brothers, Coolidge Cornett, Kenneth Cornett and Warren Cornett. He is survived by: his parent Susan Cornett; his children, Vernon Gay Cornett of Haillie, Edward Cornett of Pikeville, Emory Ison, Vivian Shephard of Lineford and Ruby Maggard of Eolia; his siblings, Lind Cornett of California, Norman Cornett of Lexington, Eula Morgan of Indiana, Dorthy Henderson of Indiana, Dovie Collins of Isom and Jewell Hauser of New Jersey; his grandchildren, Jimmy Sheperd Jr, Bobby Sheperd, Sara Maggard and Timothy Maggard; and his great grandchildren, Keyara Sheperd, Jordan Sheperd, Lindsay Sheperd, Shelby Sheperd, Samuel Sheperd and Lilly Sheperd.
