He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Shepherd and Bertha Cress Shepherd; his son David Shepherd; his son-in-law Dewayne Cole; and his siblings, Harold Shepherd, Billy Darryl Shepherd and Norma Browning.
He is survived by: his wife Eliza Cornett Shepherd; his daughter Donna Cole of Linefork; his siblings, Jimmy Shepherd of Linefork and Carma Cornett of Linefork; and his grandchildren, Megan Adams (Alex), Austin Cole and Maleah Cole.
