He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Emerson and Carrie Sandusky Emerson; his wife Loretta Emerson; his son Stephen W. Emerson; and his siblings, Omer Coy Emerson, Jesse Franklin Emerson, Rollin Lyle Emerson, Vatus Gibson, Lois Wells and Jewell Smith.
He is survived by: his son Phillip Emerson (Terry) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his brother Rex Emerson (Connie) of Oxford, Ohio; his grandchildren, Nichole and Loren Emerson; and his close friend Tommye Allen. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
