Walter Howard Leonard Obituary
Walter "Nook" Howard Leonard, 99, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Walter was born in Harlan, Kentucky to Walter G. Leonard and Jessie Hancock Leonard on September 24, 1917. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Katherine "Katie" Leonard. Walter was also preceded death by two brothers, Gene Leonard and Bill Leonard and two sisters, Bea Smith and Irvil Shoemaker.
Walter is survived by his children Linda Leonard Baldwin (James), Mary Leonard, Katherine Leonard Walcott (Bruce), sons Nelson Leonard (Mary Joe), and Walter Leonard Jr. (Karen), 10 grandchildren, Delaine Thiel (Chris), Brian Leonard, Leigh Roach (Troy), Todd Baldwin (Michelle), Robin Hammond (Herb), Kelly Dobson (Mike), Justin Leonard (Jillena), Beau Leonard, Ashley King (Ben) and Lauren Leonard and 14 great grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Baigin, Anna, Ella, Andrew, Emily, Madeline, Kennedy, Lucy, Jackson, Lilly, Lila, and Jozie.
Walter proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. Funeral Information Visitation will be from 11am-1pm, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with a Graveside Service immediately following visitation at Lexington Cemetery. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the UK Arboretum.
