She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Thomas Patrick Shanahan and Gladys Taylor Shanahan; her former husband Gerald Scott Smith; her sister Patricia Lou Schaich; her children, Sherman Smith (Kathy) of Rio Vista, Linda Jufer (Fred) of Lexington, Val Mark Smith (Pam) of Santa Rosa and Nila Wells (Ron) of Lexington; her sister Valiene Elliott (Eldon) of Apache Junction, Arizona.; and her husband Ephesus Baptist Church. She was also cherished by 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five great great grand children.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Alzheimer's Association of Kentucky and Hospice of the Bluegrass.
