He was predeceased by: his parents, James O. Tanner and Anna May Tanner. He is survived by: his wife Grace "Gracie" Tanner; his son Jonathon "John" Lee Tanner; his granddaughters, Natalie and Rachel; and his brothers, James, William and Daniel Tanner.

Memorial donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church.
