He is survived by: his brother Frederick A Carstens, Jr. (Carole Shaw); and his nieces and nephews, Kerry Cyrus, Marissa, Brayden, Claire, Lori Cyrus Majeau (Michael), Kevin Carstens, Kelli Carstens and Scott Carstens (Tricia).

“I had the honor of meeting Bob in Lexington. There aren't many individuals I encounter in today's age that are genuinely kind, he was one of them. He was consistently nice to everyone he met and always had gifts in hand- rather it be a coupon to go out to eat with him or a special xmas gift to spread joy of his favorite holiday. I was glad his love of horse racing brought him here and I was able to be a part of his life for 5+ years. Thoughts and prays are being lifted to him.”
